Easton, MD- December 6, 2017- Hertrich Honda Kia of Easton has partnered with Bears That Care and local law enforcement to collect donations for bikes to be given to kids in our community.  Every $50 in donations will buy a bike for a child that has never had one.  Monetary donations can be brought to Hertrich Honda Kia 6546 Ocean Gateway, Easton, MD 21601 until December 19th.

As the donations are collected, the Bears the Care organization will work with Walmart in Easton to purchase the requested bikes that have been individually chosen for each child.  Then, the bikes will be delivered to the local children just in time for the Holiday.  All donations go directly to purchasing a bike for a child right here in our community.

To get the drive started, Walmart in Easton has donated 10 bikes that can be seen in the Honda Kia showroom and will be assembling all of the bikes for the drive. In addition, Hertrich Honda Kia will be donating a bike for every new car sold in the month of December until the end of the drive.

"Hertrich Honda Kia is excited to be a part of Bears That Care this year,” says General Manager Michael McCauley.  “We are looking forward to donating a bike for every new car sold in the month of December to kids in Talbot, Dorchester and Caroline counties."

To visually see the impact and the difference the community is making for these kids, visit the Honda Kia showroom.  Instead of cars, it will be filled with bikes for the month of December.

“It is powerful to see the showroom full of bikes and know how many kids we as a community are going to be able to make smile,” says Fred Hertrich IV of the Hertrich Family. “To them, it is more than a bike.  It is a chance to make memories and a feeling of freedom. We are proud to support local law enforcement and Bears That Care in their quest to make a difference in our community and in the lives of local children.”

The Bears That Care organization and their partnership with local law enforcement was started by David Wheeler and has been a part of the community and Honda Kia’s history for over a decade.

“Do you remember your first bike?” asks David Wheeler.  “There’s an awful lot of kids around here that don’t remember their first bike because they’ve never had one. That’s what this
is all about. With the help of my friends here, we’re going to make sure that the kids who don’t have bikes, and don’t have the money or resources to get one, have a chance to get a bike this Christmas and then they can remember their first bike just like you do.”

The Hertrich Honda Kia team and the Bears That Care organization ask for the community’s support by donating money that will be used to purchase bikes specifically chosen for our local kids.  Please call Hertrich Honda Kia at 1(410) 822-7717 with any questions or stop by to donate.
