For the past two weeks, our summer destination has been the Delaware State Fair. We were once again the Official Local Auto Dealer of the Delaware State Fair and this year, we even added a namesake, The Hertrich Plaza.  It has been a busy two weeks full of rain, heat and excitement and now that it is over, it is time to sit down with a plate of veggies to counteract all of the delicious fried food and enjoy again some of our favorite moments from the 2018 Delaware State Fair.

The Hertrich Plaza

New this year was the introduction of the Hertrich Plaza! This location housed the free entertainment of the Delaware State Fair, including returning favorites The RedHead Express and Vocal Trash.   While fairgoers listened to excellent music under the newly installed shade sails, shiny new vehicles sparkled in the sun, catching the eye of all who passed by. While the Delaware State Fair premiered the naming of the Hertrich Plaza, it is not the only time the Hertrich Plaza will host events worth visiting.  For all events throughout the year, the space will hold the Hertrich Plaza name.  Personally, we can’t wait for the pumpkin carve festival, even if it is a little early for pumpkin patches and changing leaves just yet.

Trolleys

Did you notice those powerful, technology packed trucks pulling the trolleys effortlessly through all that mud? If you caught the trucks before they were covered with mud, you may have noticed some white letters on the side of them, also known as our Hertrich logo. We are proud to provide these trucks every year to transport fair goers from parking to main gate. If you are looking for a truck with towing capability, these trucks are fair tested and approved!

Concert Ticket Giveaway

We always love interacting with our community on social media and having the opportunity to give away track tickets to all of the concerts at the Delaware State Fair.  This year we asked entrants to post a photo of their car on an adventure as part of our summer social campaign, “The Adventures of my Hertrich Car.” All participants are eligible for prizes all summer.  We had some awesome photos submitted and it was neat to see all the different types of adventures our car can take us on.  We also happy to hear our winners had a great time at the concerts!

Toby Keith Concert

Despite the rain, we had many warm days at the fair, including opening night which was also the night of the Toby Keith concert.  One of Toby Keith’s main sponsors is Ford.  Since we have plenty of Ford’s, we were able to line the edge of the Hertrich Plaza near the Grandstand with Ford vehicles.  As Toby Keith fans entered the main gate to the track, we had a team in Hertrich shirts there to greet them with a fan. We had a great time meeting so many people and we hope the fans helped make the concert a little cooler and more enjoyable.

Fair Day with the Boys and Girls Club

Easily the most disappointing part of the fair was having Fair Day with the Boys and Girls club rained out.  Bringing 500 kids to the Delaware State Fair is always one of our favorite days of the year, so we were very disappointed when the weather didn’t cooperate.  The kids still enjoyed showing off their Fair Day t-shirts at their clubs and we all have our fingers crossed for a beautiful sunny day when we host them next year.

It is hard to believe this year’s Delaware State Fair has come to an end. It was certainly an adventure and we are already looking forward to next year.
